Crabwall Manor Hotel in Chester is a stunning historic retreat and a picturesque venue, a perfect location to celebrate the IMTC 95th Anniversary.

The two night event will include a presentation and Q&A on Sunday with renowned motorcycle travel author Sam Manicom.

MONDAY 6 SEPTEMBER - THURSDAY 9 SEPTEMBER 2027        

After much searching, deliberation and a not insignificant amount of miles, we have decided on a venue and fixed date for the European leg of our 95^th anniversary celebrations.  The date has moved back a day from what was previously announced to accommodate the operational needs of the hotel and is now:

The Elaya Hotel, Nordlingen, Germany.

Check-in: Monday, 6^th September  

Check-out: Thursday, 9^th September

The hotel has recently become part of the Trademark Collection by Wyndham and is managed by the magnificently named Gorgeous Smiling Hotels group. Formerly known as the Klosterle Hotel Nordlingen the hotel is set in a historic building which was once part of a Franciscan Monastery church. The hotel was used as a one night stop on this year’s Partitour to Hungary, so a few IMTC members have personal experience of the venue.

The three night stay includes breakfast every day and evening meals on the Monday and Wednesday nights. We have reserved a mix of Superior Double, Standard Double and Single rooms at very attractive prices, details of prices and booking will follow in the December edition of Tourider.

Nordlingen is on the Romantische Strasse in the Swabia region of Bavaria. It’s about 500 miles from Calais and Rotterdam, so about a three/four day easy ride after your crossing to Europe. Budget airlines fly into Nuremberg, Munich and Frankfurt and it’s then a three hour train ride on to Nordlingen. The town is set in a 16 mile wide meteorite crater which was created 15 million years ago and is one of only four towns in Germany which still have their medieval city walls completely intact.

Our hotel is set within the walls of the historic old town which has a myriad of cobbled streets with fine old buildings. Attractions include the Crater Museum, which deals with the geology of the meteorite strike, St George’s Church tower, this gives views over the old town similar to the end scenes of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory which was filmed in the town. For our railway buffs the Bavarian Railway Museum is just outside of the town walls.

We would welcome any offers of Partitours based around the event, either travelling directly to or from the event or using it as the start or end point of a more ambitious trip. I am personally planning a short, four night trip down to the event and then starting a two week Partitour heading south from Nordlingen after the event.

The Club's public liability insurance protects the Club and its registered members during Club activities.  For Club runs and Partitours, only members can participate; however for events at hotels, cafes, restaurants and other commercial venues, members can bring non-member guests as they will be covered by the venue's third-party insurance.
