International Motorcyclists Tour Club

It is with great sadness that the Northern Region of the IMTC learned that
a much loved & respected member has died this evening (25 August 2005)
Dennis Hannon
an IMTC member for over 50 years,
a member who has probably put more effort into making the IMTC
what it is today than any other member of his generation.
Our thoughts at this time are with his wife Doris and two sons Paul & Mark.

A service was held at Wakefield Crematorium,
Friday 2nd. September at 11.30 AM.

My mother and I remember Dennis with great fondness .My father John Gagen ,who was a member of IMTC from the 1950's, knew him through club nights on Thursdays, at the Invalid cycle club in crosland Moor Huddersfield. As a child I always had an enormous respect for him. He was much loved by all and will be sadly missed. We send our condolences to Doris and his family.

Although I didn't have the priviledge of knowing Mr Hannon, I was saddend to read of his tragic end in the Wakefield Express. He was obviously a man who lived life to the full. He is a perfect roll-model for old and young alike. You have my deepest sympathy.

notes: Although not a motorcyclist I came to know Dennis through his walking group, and he was my hero from the start. I had never met a man of his age with so much energy and enthusiasm -  YOUTHFUL enthusiasm at that. My wife and I deem it an honour to have known him and be with him on his walks. We will miss terribly  that enthusiasm and wonderful sense of fun. He radiated good humour. He was the nicest of human beings.
